Should an expense policy check use a foundation model?
A finance team wants to approve or reject expense claims against fixed published thresholds. The rules are explicit, exceptions require a named reviewer and a wrong approval has an audit consequence.
Your taskChoose the first implementation approach and explain when AI might still help.
Review the decision and reasoning
A better approach. Start with deterministic policy logic, a clear exception route and an audit trail. An AI assistant might help summarize a claim or locate the relevant policy, but it should not silently replace the exact threshold calculation or the named approval owner.
Why the shortcut fails. Assuming every workflow improves with a foundation model adds variable output where a verifiable rule is available.
Check your work. State the business metric, the review owner and the point at which an ambiguous policy question is escalated rather than guessed.
