AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner FAQs

Clear answers about curriculum, audience, instructors, fees, and scheduling.

What does the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner CLF-C02 exam validate?

CLF-C02 validates foundational understanding of AWS Cloud value, security and compliance, core technology and services, and billing, pricing, and support. It is not an architecture, implementation, coding, or troubleshooting exam.

What is the current CLF-C02 exam format?

AWS currently lists 65 multiple-choice or multiple-response questions in 90 minutes. Fifty questions affect the score and 15 are unscored. The reported scaled score ranges from 100 to 1,000, with 700 as the minimum passing score.

Which CLF-C02 domain has the highest weighting?

Cloud Technology and Services is the largest domain at 34%, followed by Security and Compliance at 30%, Cloud Concepts at 24%, and Billing, Pricing, and Support at 12%.

Do I need previous AWS experience?

AWS describes the target candidate as having up to six months of exposure to AWS Cloud design, implementation, or operations. The certification is also positioned for learners and business roles that need foundational cloud literacy.

Should I memorize every AWS service?

No. Start with the current in-scope service list and learn the primary use case, responsibility, and common comparison for each foundational service. The exam guide states that its service list is non-exhaustive and subject to change.

How should I prepare for CLF-C02?

Use the current AWS exam guide, study in proportion to the four domain weights, practise identifying services and cloud responsibilities in scenarios, then use AWS Skill Builder and official practice resources to assess readiness.
