A corrected source file must be processed again
A scheduled Glue job uses job bookmarks to read daily objects and appends transformed rows to a report prefix. Yesterday's source data had a mapping error. The analyst wants a controlled backfill of that day without duplicate published rows or changes to later days.
Your taskHow would you separate source reprocessing from target-output cleanup?
Review the explained decision
Reasoned approach. Identify the affected source range and bookmark behavior, then plan a replay that writes to a new or isolated output location or replaces only the affected partition under a reviewed process. Validate row counts and keys before publication. A bookmark controls supported source-read state; it does not clean or deduplicate previously written target rows.
Why the shortcut fails. Blindly resetting the bookmark and rerunning an append job may reread more input and append duplicate output. Deleting the whole target to fix one day risks losing valid later data.
Check your work. Record the before-and-after row counts, a stable business key, affected partitions and a rollback path. Show that a second run cannot create another copy of the repaired day.
