FREQUENT QUESTIONS

PMP questions, answered clearly

What is the PMP certification?

The Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from PMI validates experience leading projects and knowledge across predictive, agile and hybrid ways of working.

How much project experience is required?

PMI currently lists routes based on education: five years with a secondary-school qualification, four years with an associate or vocational qualification, three years with a bachelor’s degree or higher, or two years with a qualifying PMI GAC degree. Experience must meet PMI’s current rules.

Do I need 35 hours of training?

PMI currently requires 35 hours of eligible project-management training, unless an active CAPM certification satisfies that requirement. Verify your route before applying.

Can ITCertPath approve my PMP application?

No. PMI alone evaluates eligibility, audits applications and awards certification. ITCertPath can help you understand the process and prepare your information.

Reviewed 2 August 2026. Exam policies can change; confirm final eligibility, pricing and scheduling information on PMI’s official website.
